You will:

  • Identify your individual vocal range and character type.
  • Choose material best suited to you
  • Work with an accompanist, learning how to properly mark your music, give tempo, and give any other pertinent musical information about your song
  • Work in front of a group
  • Develop the story of your song
  • Work through vocal technique challenges
  • Gain solo singing confidence in a supportive atmosphere
  • Get weekly business tips
  • Have at least 2 songs ready to go!

In Session A, you will:

  • Complete two contrasting songs in 4 weeks
  • Review both selections in week 5
  • Ding your 2 songs in week 6 in front of a mock audition panel
  • Receive feedback on both songs from the panel

In Session B, you will:

  • Work more deeply on presenting the story
  • Concentrate on intention, context, and acting of the lyric
  • Perform 2-3 songs in a small theatre setting

This is a coaching class and will develop material for your upcoming performance, recording, or audition. You may choose any style of music on your own, but also will receive repertoire suggestions and assignments during the course.  The goal is always a sincere and organic telling of the story through music.

An accompanist is provided, and you will need to bring your own music to class. Invited industry guests will provide feedback in the final class.
